Think you're looking at a vintage Don Martin gag? Surprise! This style parody appeared in Cracked #27 (Nov. 1962) and, although it is signed "J. Lewis," is actually the handiwork of the great John Severin.
A nice tribute. Far better than the lame jab once made at Don Martin by National Lampoon in their now defunct magazine.
But if the Master himself had done the cartoon, I would have expected a metaphysical twist. Like the man falling short of the swimming hole and plunging down a 300 foot cliff that was just out of view inside the picture frame.
